We currently seek a high-caliber Project Manager for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. This position is fully onsite.
Company Overview:
Our client is a leading geothermal company, and the only vertically integrated company engaged in geothermal and recovered energy generation as well as Energy storage solutions, with the objective of becoming a leading global provider of renewable energy.
Primary Function:
This position is responsible for staff engineering and project support including development and implementation of MM&CAPEX projects, plant project scoping and financial justification, plant efficiency, performance monitoring and improvements, revenue improvement, damage rehabilitation, cost reduction, and acts as the project technical lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of process improvement projects, including initial engineering analysis and return on investment justifications to maximize generation and profits
- Responsible for evaluating and finding causes for equipment, procedural, and conditional inefficiencies
- Management of multiple, simultaneous process improvement projects including scope definition, budget, schedule, financial justification and implementation
- Management of contracted engineering efforts in support of project design and execution. Assists internal engineering efforts for technical requirements definition, field measurements, prioritization, and schedule de-confliction.
- Develop cost effective solutions for equipment issues and operational longevity. Responsible for managing contractors through all phases of project, including construction, testing, documentation, and completion.
- Ensure all work is done in accordance with required codes and permits. Ensure required permits are sought and in place for work. Ensure proper testing requirements are identified and met prior to project commissioning.
- Provide coordination between engineering, contractors, and operations groups to maximize work efficiency and minimize outage length.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and report on progress to senior management.
- Manage budgeting, and ensure timely and proper billing for contractors and vendors. Manage change orders and report on necessary changes to senior management.
- Provide audits of existing and new equipment fabricators for quality, process, and adherence to our client’s requirements. Support new fabricator onboarding visits for critical project components.
- Assist with planning and coordinating projects for equipment upgrades, modification and repairs
- Participate in engineering and design review in development of new concepts for plant optimization
- Must be able to quickly and physically access and travel to all areas of the plants
- Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous periods of time and read and understand maps
- May act as Emergency Response Coordinator
- Perform special projects and other tasks as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering or related field
- Five (5) years power plant maintenance or related experience, including hands-on experience in maintenance related to cooling towers, heat exchangers, turbine-generators, auxiliary equipment, control systems and environmental equipment is preferred
- Professional Engineering registration preferred or able to obtain within 12 months
- Strong organizational and project management skills working with a diverse team of engineers, technicians and contractors
- Must have a high degree of initiative, ability to work with minimal or no supervision and a high level of confidentiality
- Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
- Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our client’s auto insurance carrier
- Must be able to work in plant operating areas including exposure to noise, vibrations, heat and cold
- Must be able to wear any required protective equipment, as required by safety procedures and regulations
- Must be able to climb ladders, work off of elevated platforms and walkways and work in confined spaces
