Position: Purchasing Specialist
Location: Charleston, SC
Salary: $60,000-$65,000

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our Supply Chain team in Charleston, SC. This role is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, finished goods, production supplies, and other operational resources to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong purchasing experience, excellent vendor relationship management skills, and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and monitor purchase orders for raw materials, finished goods, production supplies, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Material Planning to determine purchasing schedules and order quantities.
  • Manage supplier communications, lead times, shipping requirements, and pricing negotiations.
  • Track deliveries and implement corrective actions to resolve supply or delivery issues.
  • Process external warehouse orders and shipments.
  • Maintain inventory min/max levels and support inventory reduction initiatives.
  • Review invoices and resolve pricing or receipt discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and material master data in SAP.
  • Execute MRP activities and support batch traceability requirements.
  • Monitor and report supply chain KPIs, root causes, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and company policies.
  • Support special projects and other supply chain initiatives as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of purchasing/procurement experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • SAP or ERP experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to supplier sites as needed.
  • Reliable attendance and commitment to meeting business objectives.
