Our client, a supplement company who partners with the fishing industry and is focused on delivering quality ingredients, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Environmental Specialist to join their team in Layfette, Louisiana. This is a direct hire opportunity with a great company offering competitive pay.

SUMMARY:
Responsible for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations on air and water pollution, waste disposal, and chemical releases for Omega Protein’s menhaden plants and vessel processing operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops new programs and policies to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Title V, Oil Pollution Act and Coast Guard environmental regulations.
• Works with management to implement and conduct environmental programs, training, and employee orientation.
• Develops measurable objectives for evaluating success of environmental compliance and training programs.
• Identifies and prioritizes all environmental risks and uses team management techniques to develop appropriate control mechanisms.
• Has overall responsibility for filing EPA and DEQ reports as required.
• Represents company in dealings with government officials enforcing environmental regulations.
• Serves on the company’s internal audit team, visiting facilities throughout the United States to ensure continued compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
• Attends conferences, maintains up-to-date knowledge of developments in environmental fields.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field. An advanced degree is desirable but not required.
• Certification in environmental management is preferred.
• Minimum of (five) years of related experience with managerial experience in industrial settings, familiarity with flame boilers, evaporators, heat exchanges and fire/combustion.
• Knowledge of federal environmental related regulations, chemical and hazardous material management.
• Excellent managerial and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to negotiate with regulators.
