About the Opportunity

TRS Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a high-caliber Senior Facility Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with our client's team of experienced professionals.

Our client is a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm specializing in oil & gas, natural gas transmission, LNG, renewable natural gas (RNG), compression, pipeline, and energy infrastructure projects. The company is known for delivering innovative engineering solutions and complex facility projects that support critical energy systems throughout North America.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take a technical leadership role on major energy infrastructure projects while working alongside multidisciplinary teams and industry experts.


Position Summary

The Senior Facility Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering and design of natural gas, LNG, RNG, compression, pipeline, and related energy infrastructure facilities. This role provides technical expertise throughout all phases of project development, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction support, and project execution.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, support project planning and execution, mentor engineering staff, and collaborate closely with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering specifications, calculations, drawings, and design packages for assigned projects
  • Establish project objectives, deliverables, schedules, and responsibilities by coordinating with project managers, program managers, clients, and stakeholders
  • Lead engineering and design efforts for:
    • Gas compression facilities
    • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities
    • Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities
    • Liquid pump stations
    • Gas processing facilities
    • Dehydration facilities
    • Heater and filter separator systems
    • Oil and gas pipelines
    • Pipeline metering facilities
    • Slug catchers
  • Develop scopes of work for engineering services, equipment procurement, materials, and construction activities
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical recommendations for equipment and contractor selection
  • Review vendor drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and best practices
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, including:
    • Pipe sizing
    • Valve sizing
    • Hydraulic analysis
    • Hydrostatic testing design
    • Compressor design
    • Pump design
  • Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and material requirements
  • Support engineering manhour estimates, project proposals, and project cost estimates
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate efforts with engineering contractors and consultants
  • Lead procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and equipment recommendations
  • Participate in field engineering efforts, client meetings, and project site visits
  • Delegate engineering tasks and provide technical guidance to project teams
  • Review and redline engineering drawings, including:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Site Plans
    • General Arrangement Drawings
  • Coordinate with designers and drafters to develop and advance drawing packages
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training within the engineering discipline
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, and engineering solutions to clients and company leadership
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within one or more areas of engineering specialization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the oil & gas, utility, midstream, or energy infrastructure industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with turbomachinery equipment, including compressors and turbines
  • Experience leading engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of facility design and engineering for energy infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting procurement, equipment selection, and vendor management activities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Technical Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Piping drawings
    • Isometric fabrication drawings
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • General Arrangement drawings
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards, including:
    • ASME
    • ANSI
    • API
    • NFPA
    • CSA
    • ASME B31.3
    • ASME B31.4
    • ASME B31.8
    • 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195
  • Ability to perform complex engineering calculations and technical analysis
  • Strong understanding of engineering design methodologies, project execution strategies, and industry best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting LNG, RNG, gas processing, compression, or midstream facility projects
  • Experience serving as a technical lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Experience providing field engineering support during construction and commissioning
  • Previous project engineering or project management experience
  • Experience working directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and permitting organizations
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills
