Senior Process Engineer
We currently seek a high-caliber Senior Process Engineer for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in San Diego, California.
 

Description

The Senior Process Engineer will manage and perform engineering tasks for gas, oil, and utility projects that typically include station and facility upgrades, new builds, process modeling and design, and development of specification documents. Qualified individuals will have very strong engineering design experience related to process and facilities engineering or experience related to engineering/operations in the natural gas, liquefied natural gas, utility, and midstream sectors. This person will help support projects throughout the company that require process engineering.  Position will require travel as needed by projects.
This position can be based in any of CEPCs locations within the US and requires occasional travel to other CEPC locations/project areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Champions the company’s core values of Culture, Ethics, Performance, Compliance, Schedule Driven, Alignment to Client, and Employee Utilization.
  • Provides technical leadership guidance for younger Engineers.
  • Support the mentoring and training of younger process engineering staff in the group.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Scope Development – involves themselves in any ‘new’ project, as directed by the Process Engineering Manager, as it moves through the scope development phase to ensure project is resourced correctly, that all parties are communicating effectively, and that the scope is well understood and clear to the project team members.
  • Provides Subject Matter Expert level resource to all projects within region.
  • Collaborates with Process Engineering Manager to ensure project-related issues are addressed. Effectively communicates all process engineering related on-goings in region upward.
  • Develops functional relationships with client personnel within their regions.
  • Reviews projects as needed to ensure quality is being maintained within region and companywide.
  • Interacts with all Regional Directors to ensure full knowledge of ongoing and upcoming process needs within area.
  • Promotes use of standards and codes by younger engineers.

 Training, Development and Career Pathing

  • Help support the company process engineering team in the development of career pathing within their disciplines.
  • Works with Process Engineering Manager to develop and maintain the overall strategy for engineering training and development. Includes identification, generation, and implementation of training which may be needed.
  • Works with Process Engineering Manager and Regional Director on hiring and resourcing needs.

Process

  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Assists in calculator standardization company wide.
  • Assists in generating company-wide standards for application in process designs.

Business Development

  • Reviews and works with the Process Engineering Manager on proposals, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Assists in proposal generation and oversight within region.
  • Help Regional Director build and grow business opportunities by supporting and maintaining existing client relationships as well as exploring new clients and workstreams.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering with coursework related to job responsibilities.
  • 13-20+ years applicable experience
  • 9+ years applicable experience with PE certification *
  • Thorough knowledge of gas codes and regulations, including 49 CFR Part 192 193, 195, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, B31.12, API 520 Pt. 1 & 2, API 521 and ASME BPVC Section VIII
  • Familiarity with CAD and Microsoft Office software
  • Expert background in Process Modeling Software such as HYSYS, ProMax, etc.
  • Willingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative.
