Purpose
• Responsible for the (Acid Plant) component of the, Detailed Engineering and Execution phase of the Project to ensure the design meets process requirements, up to facilities handover.
• Generate capital, operating and closure cost estimates for all associated aspects of rail during the project study phases
• Coordinate the detailed design activities in order to develop and deliver the optimum process and material handling methodology and technology
• Liaise with groups and key stakeholders along with EIA team
• Review, consider and apply the best available technologies and innovation to the Process and Mine scope of the PM USA Expansion Project.
• Work and plans to minimize risk and uncertainties
• Oversees construction and commissioning of the Acid Plant on site up to hand over to operations.
• Assurance that PM USA HSEC standards are met
Core Accountabilities
• Manage and coordinate the progress of the detailed engineering and execution of work in accordance with the project scope and schedule.
• Oversee, coordinate and maintain project schedules to ensure cost, quality and schedule objectives are met.
• Develop and recommend improvements to project work processes.
• Identify scope changes and coordinate any change orders in advance of performing work.
• Ensure the requirements of the PM USA HSEC procedures and goals, the PM USA Values and Business Conduct are incorporated in all work undertaken and supporting systems
• Ensure cost control of capital and operating budget and appropriate administration of all contracts
• Conduct analysis of activities and implement corrective action where deviation from approved plans and budgets occur
• Manage procurement and fabrication equipment
• Assist with bid evaluation and selection of contractors
• Assist to develop technical scope of work for all study work related to infrastructure
• Provide direction (or as required) to EP, EPCM Contractors
• Provide direction to construction contracts as required on site
• Undertake project controls activities within delegated authority including approval of invoices, risk management, selection of contractors and planning approvals
• Provide input into monthly reports
• Oversight of the Acid Plant detailed engineering and construction execution to be implemented for the project
• Coordinate and ensure the commissioning resources and plan are followed and manage commissioning and handover to client operations
• Other responsibilities as required by the position and direct supervisor directions
Qualifications
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant other Degree
• Minimum 8-10 years project engineering / management experience.
• Mining industry with good exposure to infrastructure
• Wide experience in major projects
• Experience with OWNER/ EPCM is preferred
• Previous experience in managing Acid plants is preferred
• Site experience and/or experience working in an operations role in a mining process plant
• Proven project management skills
• Understanding of project controls
• Experience in the management of contractors to deliver schedule of works and operate within HSE standards
• MSHA certification is desirable
• English – Spoken and written
Important to Know
• Driver’s License required
• Living in remote sites will be required
• Travel for extended times required
