Buyer/Planner
We currently seek a high-caliber Buyer/planner for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals.  

Job Description:         
As a Planner/Buyer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the planning and procurement activities for aerospace manufacturing projects. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring the timely availability of materials, managing suppliers, and optimizing inventory levels to support production schedules and operational efficiency. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning:
  • Maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
  • Work closely with production teams to coordinate material availability and resolve any supply chain issues that may impact manufacturing schedules.
  • Cross-functionally with engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet required specifications and standards.

Production Coordination:
  • Production schedules and material requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Address production delays or issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Material Planning:
  • Maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, ensuring alignment with manufacturing requirements and project timelines.
  • Inventory levels and usage patterns to optimize material availability while minimizing carrying costs and excess inventory.
Procurement Management:
  • Evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Purchase orders for materials and components, tracking deliveries and resolving any issues related to quality or timeliness.
Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  • Supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies.
Inventory Control:
  • Inventory control measures to optimize stock levels and minimize shortages or excesses.
  • Regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Opportunities for process improvement within the procurement and planning functions, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Well-informed of industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to drive innovation and maintain competitiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience (5+ years) in aerospace procurement, planning, or supply chain management.
  • Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and components.
  • Build effective relationships with suppliers both internal and external.
  • ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, EPICOR, GLOBAL SHOP MRP).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Regulatory requirements and compliance standards applicable to aerospace industry (e.g., ITAR, EAR, AS9100).
  • Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
  • Experience in complex aerospace manufacturing industry.
