Continuous Improvement Engineer/Lean Expert
Peoria, IL

Summary:

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Lean Expert will work alongside site leadership and assist in identifying waste and inefficiency. They will work on developing the team to implement countermeasures and best practices. They will also lead the team through change and ensure sustainment of efforts.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support identification of best practices in each operational location and ensure that standards are aligned.
  • Establish and build an employee community where improvement is part of daily work through development and engagement with site leadership.
  • Demonstrate the ability to challenge the status-quo and encourage breakthrough thinking to ensure Continuous Improvement principles are implemented.
  • Applies CI principles to projects and ensures tools/processes are in place to sustain gains.
  • Analyze opportunities as well as guide and plan actions around safety, quality, people, and productivity initiatives.
  • Leads and directs cross-functional teams in Lean and Kaizen project execution.
  • Implements, executes, and facilitates the utilization of CI tools to include, but not limited to: 6S, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management Systems such as Issue Resolution Boards, Standard Work, Kanban, Strategy Deployment.
  • Working with teams to improve their 6S scores, by giving examples and coaching teams for an increased understanding and application of 6S principles.
  • Partner with departments to develop, document and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes.
  • Coach the site leadership team in achieving the key performance indicators aligned with the site performance goals and strategic objectives.
  • Deliver formal and informal training on CI technical and behavioral skills development.
  • Assist with any additional day-to-day duties as assigned.
 
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • College degree in engineering or quality related field preferred; Six Sigma – Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certifications a plus.
  • 5+ years of related manufacturing experience using modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (Lean, TPS, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to execute, manage, and develop projects effectively.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite; CAD experience a plus.

Certificates and Licenses:
Six Sigma – Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing certifications preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to provide leadership at all levels of the organization and to work with management to resolve issues that impede project team members.
