Job Title: Continuous Improvement Group Leader
Location: Ladson/Summerville, SC
**will relocate, will offer sign-on bonus**
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire, exempt, salaried
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8-5 with OT as needed, potential weekend on-call coverage is rotated through the team as needed
Salary: $90-105k
Job Description:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader is responsible for driving operational excellence through continuous improvement program initiatives and deployments. The role will utilize lean implementation experiences in leading the organization through the lean transformation journey. A “hands-on”, self-motivated and action oriented operating style with a tenacity to build support for change is essential. The CI Leader will utilize existing production system tools and methods to develop a lean culture in the Charleston plant while coordinating/benchmarking with other international locations. Leadership characteristics include a passion to attract, lead, coach, motivate, and develop others. The current planned team structure reporting to the CI Group Leader is 1 Production System Implementer and 2 fabricators.
Essential Functions:
Ability to identify, develop, and manage plant-wide Continuous Improvement activities (Events, Projects, and Just-Do-Its) in both operational and transactional processes
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and provide extensive training in Continuous Improvement methodologies including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, One Piece Flow, Kanban, 6S, Quick Changeover, Visual Management, TPM, and A3 reports
Ability to develop and coach associates to drive a cultural change that embraces Continuous Improvement as a means to improve Quality, Delivery, and Cost
Ability to analyze, monitor and assess critical activities affecting policy, organizational guidance, and developmental processes
Capable to develop and present recommendations to the Plant Leadership Team, which support attainment of sustained site goals of Continuous Improvement
Ability to develop and effectively present training and coaching materials to management, production leadership and production associates in the use of continuous improvement tools
Awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 regulations
Specific Skills:
Energetic and Enthusiastic
Able to interact effectively with all levels of management and shop floor personnel
Proficient with MS Office programs and SAP to support data driven analysis of targeted activities
Ability to communicate in a manner that reflects a lean Subject Matter Expert through classroom settings, shop floor interactions or general meetings
Supervisory Responsibility
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a technical or related field (IE, EE, ME)
- 5+ years of Continuous Improvement project experience in an automotive tier I environment
- Toyota Production Systems implementation experience with 5-7 years of job stability at recent employer
- Project/Process Management - background leading projects for cost savings
**Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer; client is not currently offering sponsorship or work authorization
**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be eligible for hire
