Cost Accountant

Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for further developing, implementing, and maintaining cost accounting standards for the North American operations. He/she is responsible for performing regular variance analysis and identifying opportunities for operational cost improvements. He/she is responsible for creating cost models in scenario analysis to assist management in strategic decision-making. The cost analyst also works on or assists in special projects in the finance department.

Essential Functions:

• Calculates cost center rates and overhead rates based on corporate cost model
• Creates scenario cost models for future/strategic planning purposes
• Regularly reviews and validates standard cost rates
• Annually plans internal cost allocations and maintains actual cost assessment cycles in SAP
• Performs CO closing activities at month-end and year-end and variance analysis
• Supports colleagues in work relating to product controlling, plant controlling and FP&A as needed

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Fulltime, 40 hours per week
Willing and able to work overtime during when necessary

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with advanced training in management accounting
• 3-5 years of cost accounting or cost controlling experience in a manufacturing environment


Preferred Education and Experience

• Cost accounting experience with a German organization
• Further education in the area of finance and accounting (CMA, MBA, masters)
• German language skills helpful
