Position Title: Engineering Coordinator

Job Summary
This position performs work requiring advanced knowledge which is predominantly intellectual in character, and which routinely exercises discretion and judgment. The advanced knowledge is in a field of science or learning and gained through a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction, experience, and expertise acquired in the field.

Scope
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed.. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments. Responsibilities include evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques across a broad range of tasks to ensure successful project delivery.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Apply cost-effective execution strategies to deliver optimal project solutions within the discipline.
  • Develop and review project documentation, including Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, estimates, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Monitor and analyze key material quantities, providing accurate forecasts and updates.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and design criteria, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into all design and execution phases.
  • Create and maintain job execution plans and support procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment across disciplines.
  • Review and approve vendor lists, quotation requests, bid evaluations, and purchase orders.
  • Assign, monitor, and manage team workloads, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Perform and verify engineering calculations, specify equipment, and resolve moderately complex technical issues.
  • Lead vendor documentation reviews and coordinate cross-discipline compliance checks.
  • Prepare scopes of work for third-party contracts and support proposal and estimation efforts.
  • Identify scope deviations, assess impacts, and initiate change management processes.
  • Ensure adherence to project execution plans, quality standards, and organizational procedures.
  • Participate in audits, training, mentoring, and the development of departmental standards and best practices.
  • Represent the company in external technical forums and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively, meeting deadlines and project objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Travel as required for project or business needs.
Minimum Qualifications – Related Education, Experience & Skills
  • A four-year accredited degree (or global equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Professional certification or registration in the applicable field (if required by local regulations).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders including management, colleagues, clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Solid technical knowledge relevant to the role and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with applicable local, state/provincial, and national regulations and standards.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Professional registration and membership in a recognized technical society (preferred).
  • Advanced understanding of discipline-specific codes, standards, and material specifications.
  • Experience in effort-hour estimation and workforce planning.
  • Practical field experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in standard business software, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily based in a standard indoor office environment with generally favorable conditions
  • May also involve exposure to a variety of worksite and vendor/client facility environments, which can include:
  • Temporary office setups
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibrations
  • Working at heights or in confined spaces
  • Presence of fumes, airborne particles, or extreme temperatures
  • Elevated noise levels
