We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to work for our market leading client who is looking for an experienced Laboratory Technician on an ongoing contract basis. You will form part of a multi discipline team that are expected to carry out various works to a high quality and safety standard. 

Reporting To: Production Supervisor

Purpose of Job:

As a Laboratory Technician you are responsible for ensuring the product specification is correct in terms of BS&W by sampling and analysis. You have specific responsibility for ensuring chemical stocks and rates are maintained at appropriate levels and that sample reports are communicated effectively.

Areas of Responsibility:

 Carry Out Routine Sampling and Testing /Analysis Operation

Prepare for sampling and obtain representative samples.

Maintain integrity of samples before analysing

Prepare for simple testing / analysis Prepare sample for test / analysis. Conduct test / analysis.

Record test / analysis results within appropriate documentation.

Follow incident and emergency procedures as required.

Identify calibration requirements for Laboratory and field test equipment.

Order stocks to maintain minimum levels.

Communicate with Supervisors, peers and external parties accurately, concisely and promptly.

Environmental protection and pollution control are enforced effectively with colleagues, subordinates and subcontractors.

Carry out an Emergency Response role

Experience and Qualifications:

Qualifications in Chemistry required

2 years’ experience as a Lab Technician in the hydrocarbon processing industry. (FPSO experience preferred)

Practical experience of Permit to Work, Mechanical Standards and Risk Assessment.

Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.
