This position sits within our client’s Project Engineering team, with a primary focus on AC Overhead Line (OHL) systems. Experience within the transmission network environment—particularly 132kV and above—is highly desirable. We welcome applicants from contractor, consultancy or client‑side backgrounds within the energy sector who have strong project engineering capability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide OHL engineering support across 400kV, 275kV and 132kV projects throughout the full project lifecycle, working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Review contractor and consultant design submissions, ensuring alignment with technical specifications, standards and engineering guidance.
  • Act as a Project Engineer, ensuring engineering governance is followed, coordinating with all engineering disciplines, and supporting the wider team in managing engineering risks and identifying opportunities for project optimisation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for OHL engineering, representing the discipline at strategic, commercial, programme and site‑based meetings.
  • Champion safety and CDM compliance, ensuring all engineering activities meet company, HSE and industry regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to identify, assess and mitigate engineering and quality risks.
What You Bring
  • Strong technical capability in overhead line development, design, specification or construction, or demonstrable transferable experience from similar high‑voltage engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with OHL design tools (e.g., PLS‑CADD) is beneficial but not essential.
  • A relevant technical degree or HND, supported by practical experience in the field.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to explore design options and apply evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and convey information clearly across all levels.

We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified individuals will receive consideration for employment without regard to race; color; age; sex; sexual orientation; gender identity; religion; national origin; disability; veteran status; genetic information; or any other criteria protected by governing law.
