Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Support and collaborate with project managers, accounting managers, finance team, and other departments to develop budgets and cost estimates, complete invoicing, settle billing discrepancies and disputes.
- Prepare financial reports, analyze data, generate statements, and communicate insights to support management decision making.
- Ensure tasks are appropriately set up and closed out.
- Oversee document approval and sign off.
- Monitor project financial performance.
- Identify variances and offer suggestions for remedies and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with contracts, internal policies, and pertinent regulations.
- Set up and maintain job rate tables.
- Perform month-end financial reviews.
- Manage the SG&A accounts.
- Coordinate billing-related duties.
- Supervise junior employees, conduct reviews, and provide mentorship.
- Contribute to process improvement and monitor system usage.
- Perform other duties as required.
Key requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 5-10 years of relevant working experience in major projects with some construction industry experience
- A mix of project accounting and project cost control experience.
- Proficient accounting knowledge and experience with financial analysis and reports, as well as job costing
- Proficiency with computerized accounting software programs, preferably Sage 300 (Accpac)
- Previous experience in supervising, mentoring, and training other team members
- Superior organizational and communication skills.
- Advanced Excels skills
- CPA designation is preferred
- Prior experience in project management is preferred
