Job description:
Role:
The Design Lead is responsible for all aspects of the project relating to MEP Engineering services. The role includes the management of the MEP Engineering team to ensure that the day-to-day duties are performed professionally and expeditiously to support the MEP activities. Also, responsible to deliver the MEP engineering services as per the timelines committed.
Key responsibilities:
- Should have worked in MEP industry (preferably Consultant/Contracting firms) in Electrical Design/Engineering role.
- Should have worked in Design/Engineering of Datacenter/Commercial projects.
- Should be technically sound in Electrical Power Distribution systems for projects in Building engineering/Datacenter segment.
- Should be able to comprehend the MEP tender/GFC documents received from Consultant/Client consisting of BOQ, Specifications, Drawings in Cad as well as Revit and raise RFIs to the Consultant/Client.
- Should be able to lead a team of Engineers, Draughtsman & Revit Modellers for successful delivery of engineering deliverables like shop drawings (Lighting & power layouts, Cable tray layouts, Earthing layouts & schematics, HT LT Single line diagrams, Lightning protection layout, etc.), Revit model (from LOD 300 to 400 & 500) to the Consultants/Client for approval and technical submittals.
- Must be able to communicate & coordinate effectively with the Consultants/Clients for all design related issues and get proper drawings with resolved RFIs in minimum TAT for timely & proper site execution.
- Must be able to communicate & coordinate effectively with all the Project managers at site & provide all the required design inputs timely in order to enable them to work to work effectively at site.
- Must have excellent technical ability & thorough understanding of HT/LT distribution and control systems, Transformer/DG/Panel/APFC/DB sizing, HT LT Cable sizing/schedule, Cable tray sizing/schedule, Lighting (lux) calculation, Voltage drop & Short circuit calculation, Earthing sizing, Lightning protection.
- Should have good understanding of other services like HVAC, PHE & FF, ELV systems in order to coordinate effectively with these services.
- Should be able to review whether the electrical execution works at site is in line with approved shop drawings/TDS.
- Should be able to resolve design related coordination issues highlighted by Client/Consultant/Project Manager.
- Should be able to deliver As-built drawings as per project requirement.
Qualifications and education requirements:
12-15 years of experience with BE / B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred skills:
- Sound knowledge of handling MEP Engineering team
- Know-how of AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, Amtech, ETAP software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Analytical and Decision-making skills
- Ability to foster collaborative work environment
- Site Execution knowledge preferable
- Should be creative and innovative
