TRS Staffing Solutions has exciting opportunities for Urban Planner to work for an amazing organization in the public sector. This is a long-term position with full time hours that starts with a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension or to become permanent full-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the Development Approval Process: Handle a variety of development applications, including Land Use, Zoning, and Development Permits.
  • Project Management: Oversee project delivery by creating work plans, managing budgets, and identifying and mitigating risks. Collaborate with stakeholders and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Data Analysis: Research and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including feasibility reports and financial information.
  • External Funding: Apply for external funding, execute projects, monitor budgets, and provide report-backs to funders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with staff, developers, government representatives, and other professionals.
  • Community Engagement: Design engagement plans, coordinate meetings, and develop surveys for various stakeholders.
  • Holistic Planning: Manage budgets, work plans, and community engagement to ensure comprehensive project planning.
  • Reporting: Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and reports for council.
  • Policy Development: Lead the development of planning policies and laws related to land use regulation.
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of Public Private Partnerships and landscaping is an asset.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban & Community Planning, Land Management, or Real Estate Development from a recognized institution (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Three (3) years of experience in development approval processes, land use planning, or zoning.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies, capable of effectively planning, organizing, and overseeing projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at conveying complex, technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with team members, council, staff, and consultants.
