We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Facilities & Environmental Safety Technician to support Facilities, MCFT, Sustainability, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) operations across multiple San Diego sites.

What You’ll Do
As a key member of our facilities support team, you will perform a wide variety of inspections, compliance tasks, and readiness checks that help maintain safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operations.
Your Impact Includes:
- Conducting visual inspections of essential equipment, including:
- Diesel generators
- Fuel tanks
- Electrical transformers, rooms, and equipment
- HVAC systems
- Inspecting safety signage and posted documentation at building sites and chiller plants—ensuring everything is current, visible, and compliant.
- Completing and uploading routine logs, inspection results, and reports to designated client sites.
- Creating and maintaining calendars that track required reporting deadlines and inspection cycles.
- Performing monthly checks on critical safety equipment such as eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, and spill kits.
- Conducting environmental compliance inspections (Stormwater, SPCC, etc.) to ensure protective systems are functioning properly.
- Managing PPE inventories, including equipment rotation, testing schedules, and replenishment.
- Verifying OSHA‑compliant maintenance and inspections for client‑owned forklifts and manlifts.
- Supporting hazardous material and waste coordination/disposal at chiller plants and other San Diego facilities (no HazMat endorsement required).
- Cleaning and inspecting roof and storm drains to prevent system failures.
- Inspecting fire hydrants and testing main PIV valve functionality.
- Completing administrative tasks such as documentation, recordkeeping, and report preparation to support MCFT and EH&S programs.
What You Bring
You’re someone who takes initiative, stays organized, and works effectively both independently and in a team setting. The role requires physical activity in industrial environments, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency (email, documents, spreadsheets)
- Valid, current California driver’s license
Physical Expectations:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
- Use of hands for grasping and fine motor tasks
- Ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach
- Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working around moving machinery and in critical environments such as:
- Chiller plants
- Networking rooms
- Data centers
