Job Title: Construction Director
Location: Augusta, GA 30906
Industry: complex processes (industrial metals refining, processing)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay: $200-250k base plus 35% standard bonus
Reports to: Project Director
Key Interfaces: general contractor, building design contractors, internal directors and support teams such as internal engineering, PMO, commissioning & startup, risk and safety, procurement, financial control, permitting authorities, and other third parties

Objective:
As the Construction Director, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations on the job site and supervising the field construction execution team during the construction and start up phases. You will be responsible for providing input to project team leadership on required costs and services, execution methodology, schedule, risks, and strategy during project development and estimation. You will maintain relationships with project personnel and interface with construction team to ensure alignment with internal quality and safety standards, as well as with contractors, landowners, permitting authorities, third party inspectors, & government agencies.

Responsibilities:
Site leadership and construction supervision:
• Provide overall leadership direction for site construction, including the management of construction quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring project team members
• Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering site construction contractors and supporting activities, including planning, sequencing, commissioning, & start-up
• Maintain overall responsibility for site execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements, internal standards of quality, safety, & performance expectations, and local regulations
• Proactively identify & mitigate risks to schedule and budget, resolve problems, and coordinate turnover to operations
• Performance management and reporting: manage schedule and budget, manage performance, facilitate progress reporting, and initiate action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.

Stakeholder management and coordination:
• Serve as primary interface with the client and the equipment supplier teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies - support selection of partners and suppliers, determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions
• Support developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that construction activities are aligned with the engineering design and with the procurement team to ensure that materials and equipment are ordered and delivered on time.

Experience/Education/Skill Requirements
• 15+ years construction experience, including leading multiple discipline teams on projects of similar complex processing scale and complexity (experience in the U.S. strongly preferred)
• Previous experience as Construction Director and relevant end-to-end experience in design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases or prior experience in industrial plant construction as EPC contractor, construction manager, or owner's representative/agent
• Bachelor's and/or Master's in Civil Engineering or related field
• Proven leadership and planning background with demonstrated success in improving construction performance
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
• Ability to plan and see the "big picture"
• Competent in conflict and crisis management
• Leadership and human resources management skills
• Excellent time and project management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
