Construction Manager - Data Center Construction

Location: Borden County, TX (Near Lubbock, TX)
Employment Type: Contract or Direct Hire

SB Energy is seeking a Construction Manager to support the execution of large-scale data center infrastructure projects in West Texas. This individual will serve on the Owner's side, providing leadership across field operations and project coordination activities while ensuring successful project delivery from construction through commissioning and turnover.

This role requires a hands-on construction professional who is comfortable splitting time between the jobsite and project office. The ideal candidate will bring strong field experience, EPC project exposure, and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, engineers, and consultants to drive safety, schedule, quality, and cost performance.

Position Summary

The Construction Manager will act as a key representative for SB Energy, overseeing day-to-day construction activities while supporting project planning, coordination, reporting, and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable walking the site, resolving field issues, participating in contractor meetings, and managing project documentation and coordination efforts.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with industrial, power, renewable energy, EPC, mission-critical, manufacturing, or data center construction experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Owner's Representative during construction activities.
  • Split time between field operations and office-based project coordination.
  • Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, subcontractors, engineers, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Conduct site walks, inspections, progress reviews, and contractor meetings.
  • Track project progress and communicate updates to project leadership.
  • Review and assist with management of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation.
  • Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Identify and resolve field execution challenges and constructability concerns.
  • Coordinate across multiple disciplines including civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical teams.
  • Support commissioning preparation and turnover activities.
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting, and cost control efforts.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to project standards and owner expectations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders while driving accountability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (field of study flexible).
  • 5+ years of construction management, project management, field engineering, owner's representative, or related experience.
  • Strong field construction experience with the ability to be "boots on the ground."
  • Experience coordinating projects from the owner side preferred.
  • EPC project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial, power, renewable energy, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project controls, scheduling, and contractor management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance field responsibilities with project coordination and office-based work.
