Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will serve a Design Engineer, Area Lead, or Lead with design responsibility for HVAC, utilities, and plumbing scope on assigned projects. Job duties include:
• Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents to meet project requirements and goals
• Develop and routinely monitor/maintain estimates, schedules, staffing forecasts, and progress
• Develop/review project design criteria based on applicable local codes and client standards
• Prepare/check design calculations, specifications, and engineering drawings and ensure that they address all relevant project and regulatory requirements
• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, inspection, testing, acceptance, installation, and commissioning
• Provide technical support in the development of permitting and subcontracting packages
• Other duties as assigned


Basic Job Requirements:

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Mechanical or Architectural Engineering degree with relevant design experience in HVAC, utilities, and plumbing systems
• Professional registration in mechanical or other relevant engineering field
• Advanced knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national codes and standards
• Ability to supervise and lead a diverse design team to work effectively with both internal and external organizations

Other Job Requirements:

• Design experience with HVAC systems for control of space temperature, humidity, particulate, and airborne contaminants
• Design experience with utility systems including chilled water, cooling water, heating water, steam, and compressed air
• Design experience with plumbing systems including potable water, plant water, natural gas, sanitary waste, process waste, and storm water drainage

Preferred Qualifications:

• Life sciences & pharma industry experience
• Semiconductor & microelectronics industry experience
• Metals manufacturing and processing industry experience
• Ability to utilize AutoCAD to produce 2D diagrammatic drawings and sketches
• Ability to utilize Revit to produce 3D HVAC models
• Ability to utilize Plant 3D and/or Revit to produce 3D plumbing models
• Practical field experience related to the installation, start-up, and commissioning of HVAC, utilities, and plumbing systems
