Logistics Support Specialist
The Logistics Support Specialist will be the key liaison between site logistics, corporate logistics operations and service providers. He/she will be responsible for contract administration to ensure the proper discharge of requirements by 3rd party service providers. Using performance indicators, conduct process evaluation together with benchmarking against the industry standards. This includes attending to all transportation and logistics matters for the specified key customer accounts, providing relevant periodic business reports for management decision-making and ensuring that all Key Performance Indices meet or exceed the targeted goals. He/she will be involved in market analysis, competitive cost comparison and annual rates review. Position will report to the Logistics Manager.
Position requires excellent analytical and communications skills to the management level as well as communications with sites, suppliers of Logistics services and SAP super users. He/she will provide costing input for freight/logistics rate quotes and run simulations based on different solutions and volume scenarios. Will be required to prepare bid documents, conduct pre-bid conferences, receive/review bids, and analyze & recommend award to service providers.
He/she will be an integral part of the logistics team and provide all aspects of logistics costing; improve costs in the areas of distribution, custom duties and warehousing while working with internal and external parties
• Frequent use of SAP and application of technical standards, principles, theories and concepts and techniques.
• Act as leader (SME) for rate loading and routes, maintaining all rate tables, freight agreements, default routes and calculation sheets in SAP
• Audit freight/logistics rates and solving issues where needed
• Maintain condition output records and types for Supply Chain using transaction code MD89B
• Administrator for users in Bourque Yardmaster and Yardmaster Truck, setting up accounts, maintaining plants views and requesting passwords resets
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a similar position or within the field of logistics
• Ability to work well under pressure individually or participating in team setting, self-starter with limited supervision
• Demonstrated ability to comfortably and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to easily interface with plant personnel, manage projects and look for process improvement
• Ability to prioritize and do what it takes to improve business performance
• Versatile in nature and self-driven with high level of integrity. Able to work within tight deadlines
• He/she must demonstrate the confidence and personal drive to plan, begin, commit to, and accomplish or resolve a task or problem with a competitive, “driven”, “can do” attitude in approaching work.
• He/she must stay informed and abreast of current thinking/emerging trends that have impact on own area while focusing on continuous learning
• Analytical Skills – Must be able to relate & compare, securing relevant information and identifying key issues. This includes seeking and organizing information, and conducting relevant data analysis and develop repots on management level
Education
• College Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Management or Business
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint. SAP, S4 Transportation Module Knowledge Preferred
