Location: Chattanooga, TN
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay Rate: $40.11/hr, 3 months bump to $41.53/hr, 1 year bump to $43.01/hr
Shift: 2nd, rotating 12 hours / off-shift (2:00pm-10:30pm; must be flexible to work OT and some Saturdays as needed)
Reports to: Plant Quality Manager
Main Mission:
Maintain the paint production process (robots, booths, water treatment processes) develop application and paint process, ensure basic maintenance, analyze and correct deviations in such way that equipment OEE is improved.
Main Activities:
- Develop paint programs and path teaching of ABB robots as well as assist in new product development
- Deploy paint standards for the shift, start and stop the paint line as needed and control paint operation and equipment (including robots), manage KPIs and minimize stops of the paint line
- Check quality and conformity of the application process according to quality requirements and procedures (PPCM), identify any quality issues or defects such as paint quality or orange peel
- In case of defects, contribute to root cause analysis, action plan set up and deploy within his shift the corrective actions
- Understand cavity sealing, panel damping, paint adhesion, total film, film builds, peak count, and roughness
- Apply maintenance level 1 procedures for robots and all paint equipment (guns, jigs, fixtures, spray heads, etc.)
- Maintain paint applicators and support Mix Room
- Assist with creating work instructions
- Contribute to continuous improvement workshops; propose measures to improve product and process quality
- Follow up and continuously optimize paint consumption (primer, basecoat, clear coat, hardeners, and solvents, rinsing solvents…)
- Facilitate ISO 9001,14001 and 50001 team audits
Requirements:
- Engineering technician degree preferred
- 2-3 years experience in painted parts production
- Ability to deploy structured problem solving process
- Must be a team player, flexible, and have good communication capabilities
- Must be rigorous regarding respect of standards and rules (EHS standards)
