Status of hire: Direct Hire, Permanent
Compensation: $70,000 – 85,000
TRS Staffing Solutions is currently seeking 1-2 Buyers (Sr.) who is responsible for exercising full buying responsibility and supports all Purchasing Department functions. This position acts as a department-wide resource and may represent the department in inter-departmental activities.
A successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Maintain a work bench that may include strategic and/or technical suppliers
• Maintain appropriate department documentation and correspondence including purchase orders, acknowledgements, request(s) for quotes, project status’ and metrics as assigned
• Participation in development of commodity strategies including vendor negotiations and drafting blanket PO’s
• Project management as required including leadership and assistance for other buyers
• Projects may include key Policy Deployment initiatives such as customer satisfaction, vendor performance, cost savings, and inventory reduction
• Be a help chain resource for the rest of the department
• Assist the DMR process for assigned commodities
• Advisement or direct participation in the resolution of vendor disputes for the department when necessary
• Participation as required in ERP problem solving and module implementations
• Other duties as assigned
A qualified candidate will be pro-active, dedicated, and possess these basic requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in business and/or business experience in a manufacturing environment and/or 7+ years related experience
• Previous exposure to ERP systems is a plus
• Specialized commodity experience is a plus
• Ability to assess requirements and understand relationships of components based on manufacturing processes or product line families including similar analysis of vendor processes
• Outstanding inter-departmental communication skills
• An understanding and desire to satisfy customers and improve processes
• Experience with computer business applications is mandatory
• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
• Requires the use of PPE to include but not limited to; steel toe shoes and safety glasses in manufacturing areas
