We are seeking a highly hands‑on, (expatriate or local to Kampala) CEO to lead both the pilot and full rollout. This role is not corporate or desk‑based. It requires an experienced energy-sector operator who is comfortable building and scaling real infrastructure in African markets with limited formal infrastructure. This role is based in Kampala, Uganda.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the launch and delivery pilot within 3 months.
- Build and manage a lean local operating team.
- Oversee installations, logistics, refilling and customer support.
- Champion health, safety and compliance across all operations.
- Manage suppliers, EPC contractors, technology partners and regulators.
- Personally, commercial and industrial customers resistant to change.
- Act as the primary interface with international investors and funders.
- Scale operations following a successful pilot.
- Own full P&L, budgets, reporting and governance.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
- 15+ years’ experience in the energy sector (LPG, fuels, utilities or related infrastructure).
- Proven experience launching or scaling operations in emerging or frontier markets.
- Strong field operations background (installations, logistics, safety).
- Demonstrated ability to lead mixed‑skill teams in complex environments.
- Experience working with DFIs, donors or international funders.
- Extensive African operating experience.
- Experience in East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, etc.).
- Background in LPG or downstream energy is highly advantageous.
