Civil Project Engineer 

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Construction Manager in delivery of construction works.

The Civil Project Engineer is accountable to the Area Project Manager with regards to package scope, cost, schedule, risk and quality in the field. Key duties include:

  • Provide administrative oversight of the construction contract and support the APM in delivery throughout construction phase.
  • Assist development control of the schedule, monitor progress and report on assigned area.
  • Scope control and trending of scope changes, supporting management of change function for their area.
  • Preparation and control of change management for any variance outside the approved contract scope, cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate the technical reviews of all construction contract packages.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor pre-mobilisation activities to ensure preparedness for site.
  • Monitor and report status contractor mobilisation.
  • Site kick off and construction team familiarisation.
  • Participate in HSE field leadership including safety pauses.
  • Oversee and coordinate the TQ process, ensuring responsiveness and consideration to commercial impact.
  • Support the Construction Manager in terms of package design, construction sequence, scope, and commercial structure.
  • Support CM as required to identify, plan and monitor delivery of free issue equipment to the Contractor.
  • Review fabrication punch list and dilapidation reports and remediation recommendations, change management. 
  • Support the CM as required to manage construction work packages and approval of detailed planning.
  • Provide technical support as required during construction verification and facility handover. 
  • Monitor digital strategy effectiveness and contractor performance against agreed strategy.
  • Assist with project co-ordination (between site teams, functions, contractors, vendors, etc.)
  • Evaluate contractor claims (supported by commercial team)
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards in all tasks.
  • Provide guidance to CM team with regards to project execution practices and procedures.
  • Interface with the engineering team as necessary to address field technical queries.

Position required competencies and skills 

  • Be able to actively contribute and work within a team environment
  • Excellent oral, written and active-listening skills
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering.

Position desired experience, competencies and qualifications

  • 10+ year project engineering/management experience
  • Experience in construction of process plants/materials handling systems.
  • Field experience desired
  • Project Management qualifications desired
