Lead Commissioning Engineer
Location: Nysa, Poland (on-site)
Contract: B2B (Polish terms)

Job overview:
The successful candidate will act as the client's representative, ensuring that commissioning activities performed by contractors are planned, coordinated, executed, and documented in accordance with project objectives, safety requirements, and quality standards.

The Commissioning Lead will oversee and coordinate a team of 3 discipline-specific Commissioning Engineers, each responsible for their respective scope, ensuring alignment across all commissioning activities and supporting the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall commissioning coordination effort across all project disciplines.
  • Represent the client during commissioning, start-up, and handover activities.
  • Coordinate commissioning contractors, vendors, construction teams, operations personnel, and project stakeholders.
  • Review and monitor commissioning strategies, schedules, procedures, and execution plans developed by commissioning contractors.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are aligned with project milestones, construction completion, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Manage interfaces between Engineering, Construction, Quality, HSE, Operations, and Commissioning teams.
  • Monitor commissioning progress, identify risks and bottlenecks, and implement mitigation plans to maintain project schedules.
  • Review commissioning documentation, test records, completion packages, and handover dossiers.
  • Ensure systems are progressively handed over in accordance with project requirements and completion procedures.
  • Facilitate commissioning meetings and provide regular progress reports to project management and client stakeholders.
  • Support operational readiness and transition from construction to start-up and normal operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE standards, project procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Support continuous improvement and implementation of commissioning best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in commissioning, start-up, or project delivery on large industrial/EPC projects.
  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Lead, Commissioning Manager, Start-up Manager, or Owner's Representative.
  • Experience managing and coordinating commissioning contractors rather than performing hands-on commissioning activities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical completion, commissioning, system turnover, start-up, and handover processes.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, including EPC contractors, vendors, operations teams, and clients.
  • Fluent Polish and English (written and spoken) are mandatory.
