Position Summary

The Client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Contracts Management to lead the development, administration, and execution of contract management activities across major engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), government, energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects. This leadership role is responsible for establishing contracting strategies, managing complex negotiations, mitigating commercial risk, and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The Director, Contracts Management serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, project teams, legal counsel, procurement, and clients, driving commercial excellence while protecting the Client's business interests and supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage contract management personnel supporting multiple domestic and international projects.
  • Develop and implement contracting strategies aligned with corporate objectives and project requirements.
  • Direct the review, negotiation, and administration of complex client, subcontractor, vendor, and joint venture agreements.
  • Provide expert guidance on contract interpretation, dispute avoidance, claims management, and change order administration.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual, commercial, and financial risks.
  • Support business development and proposal teams during pursuit and bid activities.
  • Partner with Legal, Procurement, Project Controls, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure contract compliance and alignment.
  • Oversee the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of contract modifications, amendments, and settlements.
  • Establish contract management processes, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Monitor contract performance indicators and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Lead resolution of contractual disputes and support mediation, arbitration, litigation, or other formal proceedings when required.
  • Develop and mentor contract management professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, Finance, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in contract management, commercial management, procurement, project controls, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing contract management teams and complex project portfolios.
  • Extensive experience with large-scale EPC, industrial, energy, government, infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating high-value contracts and managing commercial risk.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial terms and conditions, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executive leadership and external clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, MBA, or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Professional certifications such as CPCM, CCM, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with international contracts and multi-jurisdictional project execution.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC, FAR/DFARS, NEC, or other major contracting frameworks.
  • Experience supporting public-sector, energy transition, mining, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
