Design Manager - Rail and Transit

TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager – Rail and Transit to work for our client’s team. Our client is a leading global consultancy specializing in innovative infrastructure and mobility solutions. With a strong commitment to sustainability and excellence, they empower communities through transformative transportation projects that shape the future of urban mobility.

Responsibilities:

• Provide senior-level technical review, quality oversight, and risk assessment across all deliverables, promoting strong engineering practices and digital design tools.
• Act as the primary design liaison for clients, guiding discussions, leading technical presentations, and supporting decision-making throughout the project.
• Lead the full design lifecycle for large-scale rail and transit infrastructure projects, from early feasibility assessments through detailed engineering.
• Support strategic growth efforts by contributing to proposals, competitive bids, technical submissions, and solution development for future project opportunities.
• Ensure all design work meets required safety, sustainability, performance, and regulatory standards while maintaining budget, schedule, and operational objectives.
• Oversee coordination across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, systems, architectural, and environmental teams to ensure aligned, integrated design outcomes.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• Professional Engineering designation (or eligibility) within a Canadian jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including significant leadership responsibilities on transit or rail-related projects.
• Strong understanding of rail and transit systems, including stations, track, systems integration, communications, and power.
• Proven ability to guide complex design teams and manage consultant interfaces.
• Demonstrated experience in client engagement, proposal development, and support for business growth initiatives.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to balance technical leadership and business considerations.
