Director Nuclear Structural Engineering

Position Summary
This position provides strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of construction execution across one or more large-scale capital projects. This role is responsible for establishing construction strategy, directing field operations, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery, and achieving project objectives related to schedule, cost, quality, and client satisfaction.

This position serves as a senior leader within the organization and applies extensive industry knowledge, construction expertise, and management experience to drive operational excellence. This position influences organizational performance, project outcomes, workforce development, and client relationships while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and company policies. Nuclear industry experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and oversight for all construction activities from project planning through commissioning and turnover.
  • Direct construction teams, site leadership, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure successful execution of project objectives.
  • Establish and maintain project strategies that support schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contractual commitments. [
  • Lead construction planning, resource allocation, productivity management, and risk mitigation initiatives. 
  • Partner with project management, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and client teams to ensure seamless project integration and execution.
  • Serve as a senior representative to clients, regulatory agencies, governing authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all construction operations.
  • Analyze complex project challenges, identify risks and opportunities, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, environmental regulations, and project-specific procedures.
  • Develop and mentor construction leadership teams, including superintendents, construction managers, and field personnel.
  • Lead workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Monitor project performance metrics and implement strategies to improve productivity, cost control, and operational efficiency.
  • Support business development activities, proposal reviews, construction planning, and project execution strategy.
  • Travel as required to support project and business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 20 years of construction experience, including significant leadership responsibility on large-scale industrial, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or nuclear projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in senior construction management roles, including Construction Manager, Senior Construction Manager, General Superintendent, or Director-level positions.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary construction teams in complex project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction execution, scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and field operations.
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence effectively with clients, executive leadership, contractors, regulators, and project stakeholders. 
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to make strategic decisions impacting project performance and organizational objectives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and industry best practices.
Preferred Experience

• Experience in performing structural analysis and design for nuclear facilities, including AISC N690 and ACI 349
• Experience with Steel-Concrete Composite (SCC) design
• Experience in the evaluation and design of structures for missile barrier and aircraft impact requirements
• Experience in structural seismic qualification calculations and seismic analysis per ASCE/SEI 4 and ASCE/SEI 43
• Familiarity with ASME Section III design
• Understanding of ASME NQA-1 standards for nuclear quality assurance and ability to implement and maintain quality assurance programs in compliance with ASME NQA-1 requirements
• Familiarity with US NRC regulatory requirements and standards 
• Experience with ANSYS, SAP2000
• Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures, including in Mathcad
• Analyzing complex reinforced concrete and steel structures
• Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations
• Finite Element Modeling (FEM) and analysis
