Position: Civil Engineer
Overview: Join our client's India Global Resource Center and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of water conveyance design and construction support. As a leader in this field, you will coordinate with a diverse team of engineers across local and international offices. Your expertise will guide the creation of designs ranging from basic to highly complex, meeting the unique requirements of each project.
- Engage in electrical engineering design activities within a defined scope, utilizing established principles and methods.
- Acquire knowledge of project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system to enhance comprehension of interdisciplinary design concepts, paving the way for career progression.
- Develop electrical one-line diagrams, as well as site and building plans, to illustrate the layout of electrical equipment.
- Conduct reviews and verifications of design calculations and drawings to ensure they meet technical standards and project specifications.
- Provide support in specific tasks, including the examination of 3-D models created in software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Collaborate with various disciplines at different project stages to address design progression issues.
- Aid senior staff in choosing and detailing electrical system components like motor control centers, switchgear, and transformers.
- Oversee or coordinate the efforts of CADD Operators, technicians, and other personnel.
- Independently manage the electrical discipline requirements of a project.
- Analyze the Scope of Work from the Preliminary Design Report and estimate the man-hours needed to fulfill the task.
- Execute all assignments autonomously with minimal technical or administrative guidance.
- Report to the Discipline Lead, offering guidance and supervision to a team of engineers/designers.
- Serve as the Project Lead for one or multiple projects, taking full responsibility for all electrical design tasks and outputs.
- Innovate new solutions to encountered problems and coordinate various technical aspects of the work.
- Plan and conduct work that necessitates judgment in independently evaluating, selecting, and significantly adapting and modifying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Participate in business development activities, including budget establishment and monitoring to evaluate profitability.
- Stay abreast of ongoing advancements in the field of electrical engineering.
- Perform project management functions for small to moderate-sized projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- At least 15 years of experience in the conceptual design, engineering, construction, and commissioning of electrical power systems in continuous process industries, particularly from international regions like the US.
- Proficiency in designing Medium Voltage systems (4.16KV to 69KV) and developing protective relay schemes for electrical distribution systems.
- Experience with generator paralleling and Diesel Rotary UPS Systems.
- Skilled in conducting Load Flow, Short Circuit, Protective Device Coordination, System Dynamic Stability (Transient Stability), Motor Starting, and Arc Flash studies using Power Systems Analysis software, preferably SKM.
- Background in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed engineering for water & wastewater treatment and industrial projects.
- Experience in coordinating work-share across multiple office locations is advantageous.
- Capable of managing tasks on large projects or overseeing phases of smaller projects.
- Knowledge of international standards such as NEC, NFPA, BS, IEEE, IEC, and standard industry practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, capable of leading a team and engaging with clients/PMC personnel.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with SKM Power Tools or other electrical system analysis software.
- Experience in developing design criteria, specifications, and standards.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code is beneficial.
