Our client, a leading EPCM with projects worldwide, is seeking a Environmental Specialist to join their team in Kitimat, BC. The role reports to the Site Environmental Manager.

Here is an exciting opportunity to join a megaproject in beautiful Kitimat, British Columbia. You will be working with a growing EPCM with projects worldwide and joining a talented group of professionals all working towards one goal. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the review of construction scopes against regulatory requirements, permit conditions, and Environmental Management Requirements.
- Work with construction teams to plan activities in compliance with project permits and environmental management requirements.
- Provide professional opinion on matters related to execution of environmentally sensitive scopes.
- Provide oversight of execution contractors.
- Monitor compliance to permit conditions and Environmental Management Requirements through field inspections, focus assessments and audits.
- Verify compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Support execution contractor with investigations of environmental incidents.
- Perform Environmental Hazard Assessments and develop Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Review and provide input into execution contractor Environmental work plans and method statements.
- Participate in the site water and soil sampling program.
- Works independently and in a cross disciplinary team environment. Role is predominantly field based with office support for administrative component.
- Participates in the development of standards, guidelines and program execution as they relate to Environmental policies, procedures, standards.
- Interacts and interfaces with clients and environmental regulators.

Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Technology.
- Five (5 - 7) years experience in similar role.
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Experience in working in marine, estuary, freshwater, and terrestrial environments.
- Experience in wildlife management and water management during construction is an asset.
- Previous working experience in oil and gas, hydroelectric and mining projects is considered as an asset.
- Strong and demonstrated experience implementing and verifying compliance to project permits and environmental management requirements.
- Experienced with early works, civil, and in water construction.
- Excellent skills in project management, technical writing, construction planning and execution monitoring.
