Position Summary
The Materials Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement, delivery, and availability of materials and equipment required to support project execution. This role supports Fluor’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) operations by closely monitoring supplier performance, tracking shipments, and proactively resolving potential delays to maintain project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Expedite purchase orders to ensure materials and equipment are delivered on schedule and in accordance with project requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain regular communication to ensure adherence to contractual delivery commitments.
- Track material status from purchase order placement through delivery to site, identifying and mitigating risks to schedule.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, Construction, and Quality teams to align material priorities with project milestones.
- Review vendor documentation, shipping notices, and delivery schedules for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update expediting reports, logs, and project tracking systems.
- Identify delays or potential disruptions and escalate issues to appropriate stakeholders with recommended mitigation plans.
- Support material planning and forecasting activities to ensure continuous supply.
- Participate in supplier meetings, both virtual and on-site, as required.
- Ensure compliance with Fluor’s policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of material flow, vendor management, and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting EPC or large capital projects.
- Knowledge of international logistics, shipping practices, and customs documentation.
- Familiarity with Fluor systems or similar project execution platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
