We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to work for our market leading client who is looking for experienced Fabricator's on a fixed term basis for approx. 12 weeks in Southport.

You will form part of a multi discipline team that are expected to carry out various works to a high quality and safety standard.

Purpose of the job
To support the daily production of fabricated assemblies, panels and units and assist in the overall provision of Fabrication departmental work.
All employees may be required to undertake differing or additional tasks to those detailed within this job description, on the proviso that they are within the reasonable skills, experience and knowledge of the employee.

Characterization
Works within the fabrication department producing panels, assemblies and units that support core manufacturing production. As required, assists in oven/furnace construction to support Sales to bespoke customers requiring furnace capability and capacity.
Fabricated parts are produced via a combination of specific tools and machines for example guillotine, manual turret punch, press brake and corner notcher and which require the ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
These roles require engagement and communication with all manufacturing and engineering areas and key discipline heads. Technicians may be required to visit client locations and engage with senior customer personnel.

Result area’s

1. Provides fabricated parts to the correct number, design and quality.
 Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
 Maximises material (sheet metal, steel etc) utilisation when setting cutting parameters.
 Welds (MIG and TIG) mild and stainless steel.
 Makes full use of appropriate tools and machines as per task requirement.

Result: Minimises materials waste due to personal error, drawings confusion or cutting efficiencies. Provides on-time and to specification parts and assemblies that contribute to planned and scheduled production.

2. Maintain safe working environment within Fabrication area.
 Responsible for the maintenance and organisation of a safe and efficient work area,
complying with 5S/6S standards as appropriate.
 Be aware of local health and safety changes/instructions arising from departmental tool-box
talks. Ensure all equipment is operated within appropriate PPE and guarding requirements and
that manufacturers and/or Company operating instructions are complied with at all times.
Result: Health & Safety requirements become ingrained as part of daily work processes enabling no harm to arise to self or others.

3. Maintain and contribute to an enhanced Quality Performance.
 Skilled employees provide technical advice and recommendations to both peer group and to
semi-skilled colleagues. Ensure that all work is carried out to relevant company or industry standard and regulation. Result: Continued focus on best-practice methodologies, industry standards and improvements removes opportunities for non-conforming product and aids successful customer audit and retention.

4. Planning and Organising
 Plan personal time effectively in order to maintain efficiency and productivity and enable
quick response to required change in work scheduling etc.
 Ensure daily liaison with Fabrication Supervisor in regard to job progression, delay and
timescales. Provide early indication of potential stock-outs for scheduled materials.
Result: Overall manufacturing plan and schedule is supported or potential delays highlighted at an
early stage to allow for potential additional resource and completion as per target.

5. Remain flexible to the needs of the business
 Undertakes reasonable ad-hoc or routine duties as directed by line manager.
Result: Achieves a flexible business model able to adapt to changing environments.

Education

Good standard of general education with particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

Level 3 City & Guilds or time served/equivalent in relevant mechanical engineering discipline (Sheet Metal Worker)

Experienced or time-served in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline (Welder)

Experienced in a Fabrication assembly role

Experience

Demonstrates prior involvement in aspects of pneumatics, fabrication, drawings and fabrication tooling and equipment.

Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.

Ability to MIG/TIG weld is advantageous to skilled position
