Pay Range: $110K-$165K
Hours: Monday – Friday
Summary
The General Manager of the Wastewater Treatment Facility is a proactive, experienced leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations, regulatory compliance, labor management, financial performance, and customer service. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the plant while fostering a culture of safety, development, and excellence. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in wastewater treatment, and a proven ability to drive operational success.

Facility Operations & Compliance
- Maintain and manage the wastewater facility to meet Clean Compliance standards and achieve key performance indicators (CCP KPIs).
- Ensure processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste aligns with RCRA, DOT, DTSC, local POTW, and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain expertise in facility-specific wastewater treatment technologies.
- Oversee employee scheduling, work hours, overtime, hiring, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
- Manage labor relations and ensure compliance with worker’s compensation regulations.
- Recommend merit increases and promotions for facility personnel.
- Enforce corporate and facility-specific Health & Safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Co-chair facility Health & Safety meetings and collaborate with the safety department to enhance safety standards.
- Work with the Facility Compliance Manager to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance, including Part B RCRA permit or equivalent.
- Oversee the profit and loss statement, ensuring operating costs, labor, materials, supplies, and SG&A expenses are on target.
- Review and approve facility purchasing and manage accurate, timely billing and coding of materials.
- Collaborate with National Logistics to coordinate outbound waste management.
- Ensure excellent customer service for internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Direct training, development, and mentoring of plant employees, preparing current and future managers for career growth.
- Supervise facility maintenance efforts, including preventative maintenance system (Mapcon).
- Ensure the facility is clean, well-maintained, and ready for customer audits or tours.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Field Service, Technical Services, and Logistics management teams.
Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- 5 to 7 years of wastewater treatment experience in facilities management, plant operations, or related fields.
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Direct experience in plant operations and management.
- Working knowledge of environmental statutes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in using computers and related software.
- Oversight of state and local permits and compliance activities.
- Hiring, training, scheduling, and performance appraisals.
- Recommending promotions, compensation, and corrective actions.
- Managing the facility budget.

Physical Requirements
- Typical shift includes 4–6 hours of external plant oversight.
- Minimal lifting (0–10 lbs).
- Regular computer usage.
- Standard visual and hearing requirements for detailed work.
- Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to drive a car, small truck, or other specified vehicles as needed (excluding commuting).
