An excellent career opportunity awaits an Inspection Technician to join a leading global oil and gas company on the Angola NGC Project, based in Soyo, Angola. This role is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical operations are executed in strict compliance with applicable Codes and Standards, subsidiary procedures, and approved Quality Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In accordance with the Quality Control Plan, execute the specific inspections on material, equipment, steel structure, construction/installation activities and HVAC on site, following relevant specified procedures, issuing the relevant Quality Records.
  • Ensure notification to client for inspection as per approved QCP requirement.
  • Ensure that all testing and measuring equipment are identified, calibrated and suitable for testing and that instructions for their use and setting are available.
  • Check daily, and prior to start the onsite work, that environmental conditions are adequate; otherwise promote measures to protect the work.
  • Ensure implementation of Inspection and Test Plans for structural steel, vessels, column, tanks, spheres, heat exchangers and air coolers, skid mounted packages, piping, pipe supports, pipe ways, pipelines etc., and perform, with a minimal external support from own Supervisor, all pertinent quality control and on site surveillances.
  • Ensure necessary report has been generated and approved by involved parties based on QCP and project specification requirement.
  • Provide support for any identified potential non-conformances or any work defects occurring systematically.
  • Orderly collect and manage/check documents certifying test, controls and inspection documents, ensuring that all mechanical and testing related records are properly retrievable within the final As- Built dossier.
  • In Case of subcontractor activities, ensure the correct implementation of the approved Quality Control Plans/ Inspection Test Plans, witnessing inspection and collecting relevant Quality Control records.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of specific experience in Inspection Management as an Inspector in in-service plants of oil & gas industry.
  • Experience and knowledge of inspection management software systems such as Palladio or similar, etc. is preferred.
  • Certified API 570 and API 510.
  • Thorough understanding and experience in application of NDT techniques in in service plants.
  • Thorough understanding and experience in defect assessment techniques in accordance with relevant codes / standards (APIs, ASME, ASTM, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of pressure vessel and pipe work design and inspection codes of practice, standards (APIs, ASME, ASTM, etc.)
  • Familiar with damage mechanisms and anomalies present in oil and gas systems.
  • Understanding of inspection and testing requirements for SCEs.
  • English language skills required.
