Location: Augusta, GA 30906
Industry: complex processes (industrial metals refining, processing)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay: $120-160k base plus bonus (depending on experience)
Reports to: Engineering Director

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced onsite Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated systems and processes to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs. The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to streamline operations.
This position requires the ability to travel internationally for training purposes (3 weeks in Germany within the first 4 months of employment, potentially). The ideal candidate will be open to immersing themselves in different cultures and working collaboratively with teams from around the world to gain a comprehensive understanding of our business and industry.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated systems and processes to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to streamline operations
- Develop and maintain control systems for automated equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated systems and equipment
- Participate in the development and implementation of new products and processes
- Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades to automated systems and equipment
- Create and maintain documentation related to automation processes and systems
- Train and mentor other team members on automation processes and systems
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience leading instrumentation, controls, and automation engineering efforts during construction/commissioning project phases
- Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC
- Experience with OT/IT interface, OSI PI system and System Virtualization
- Experience with cement, metal, chemical, or mining industries
- Experience with server-client architecture Industrial communications such as Profinet, Modbus, OPC-UA etc.
- Experience with automation software and hardware systems, such as PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA
- Experience with OT/IT interface, OSI PI system
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
**Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer, regardless of authorization or visa transfer
**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be eligible for hire
