Intermediate Project Engineer

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an Intermediate Project Engineer to support the design, execution, and delivery of industrial equipment packages and related projects. Reporting to the engineering team, this role is responsible for managing assigned project scopes while collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, procurement, manufacturing, and field services. The successful candidate will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned equipment package projects from design review through commissioning, monitoring schedule, cost, and scope.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to select and procure major project components and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for proposals and quotations, including preliminary designs and project estimates.
  • Review and interpret client specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve design, fabrication, and execution challenges.
  • Support field service and commissioning teams by providing technical guidance during project startup activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, project reports, change orders, and project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvements, standardization, and process optimization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff on engineering best practices and project standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • 3-6 years of project engineering experience within industrial, energy, manufacturing, rotating equipment, or related sectors.
  • Experience supporting equipment package projects is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to oil & gas, energy, or industrial processing environments is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design tools.
  • Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, NEC).
  • Familiarity with piping systems, instrumentation, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and scope management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP systems is an asset.
