Our client, a leading EPCM with projects worldwide, is currently recruiting for a Labour Relations Assistant to join their team in Kitimat, BC. This candidate will be responsible for providing support guidance, and counsel in all labour relations queries on the project.

In this very exciting role, the qualified individual will support the project by providing project management with recommendations in response to company, contractor and client requests concerning labour relations functions. Some duties include researching documentalion for contract negotiation, guides subsidiaries when involved in labour disturbances, and supports management in collective bargaining with unions representing company employees.

Job duties:

  • Represents the company in dealings with government agencies
  • Plans and supports programs to promote cooperation and coordination on union-employee management relations
  • Obtains factual information concerning employee/management inquiries and employee suggestions and/or complaints
  • Advises management and union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labour relation policies and practices
  • Prepares statistical reports, using records of actions taken concerning grievances, arbitration, and mediation cases, and related labour relations activities to identify problem areas

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred. A combination of experience and 2-10 years of experience will be considered in lieu
  • Utilizes extensive Labour Relations experience gained on large industrial construction projects such as refineries, mining and off shore petroleum facilities
  • Knowledge of contingency planning, proactive employee relations programs, supervisory training and employee complaint solutions
  • Advanced computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the advanced use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
  • Strong discretion and independence
  • High critical thinking/reasoning ability
