Landscape Architect
Location: Charlotte, NC
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking an experienced Landscape Architect. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, design-minded collaborator who represents the culture and goals.
The successful candidate will have experience in tasks ranging from detailed planting design to large-scale community master planning. Our clients are public and private sector and our projects include park and recreation facilities, educational facilities and other municipal projects, streetscapes and transportation corridor planning, residential and mixed-use, and commercial/industrial site development.
Duties include assisting with marketing and business development, project management, project design expertise that balances spatial- and form-based matters, project and staff management, including the mentoring of less experienced staff, proposal development, drawing production, technical review, and all aspects of construction administration processes.
- Prepare site plans, specifications, and cost estimates for land development, coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.
- Consult with clients, engineering personnel, and architects on the overall program.
- Compile and analyze data on conditions, such as location, drainage, and location of structures for environmental reports and landscape plans.
- Work from sketches, notes, and other input material to produce hand and computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays, and completed drawings. Can complete finished product with limited direction.
- Utilize appropriate software applications.
- Inspect landscape work and hardscape to ensure compliance with specifications and local building codes, approve the quality of materials and work, and advise client and construction personnel.
- Deliver projects to clients.
- Maintain positive communication with staff, clients, and subcontractors.
- Follow general instructions and company policies and procedures.
- Comply with all company safety policies and rules.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program in landscape architecture, urban and regional planning or related field.
- Professional landscape architecture or civil engineering licensure in a state in which we do business. Reciprocity acceptable.
- Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, experience with Rhino a plus
- Knowledge and application of Complete Streets and Smart Cities is essential
- Working knowledge of Revit is a plus
- Knowledge of horticulture and sit sustainability also a plus
- Skilled preparation of hand drawn sketches, perspectives and renderings
- Analytical skills with ability to prepare statistical reports
- Ability to work well independently and on a team
- Ability to communicate ideas and technical information to staff, supervisors and clients in a professional manner
- Ten (10) years or more of related experience
- Land Development design experience preferred
- Travel as necessary to meet the needs of the position
- Valid Driver’s License
