Our client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic, growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the overall project delivery in accordance with Company, Client and industry requirements. This position is based in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct timely reviews of Project mechanical drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent.
- Approve, guide and review engineering designs, including calculations and designs development.
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes.
- Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly.
- Liaise with and provide professional support to drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
- Provide assistance to monitor the design and drafting progress.
- Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
- Approve and assist with the delivery of accurate engineering lists including but not limited to equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipeline and special items.
- Approve and assist with the delivery of accurate material take-offs as and when required.
- Evaluate and approve tenders, provide technical recommendations for the purchase of mechanical equipment from vendors where necessary.
- Review and approve certified vendor documentation and disseminate the information to the appropriate personnel for interface checking.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 15+ years of experience in mineral processing and/or related industries.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
- Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
- Display the core values and ethos of the business.
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within your business unit.
