ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide mechanical engineering technical support to the manufacturing operations.
• Support planning, prototype hardware fabrication, and the assembly processes for current and new programs.
• Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena.
• Assists with resolution on any engineering issues that have the potential to interrupt programs or delivery schedules.
• Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
• Evaluate and solve production problems.
• Prepare and submit Engineering Change Proposals (ECP's), Deviations, and Waivers for technical problems resolutions.
• Provide technical support / project management as assigned on engineering special projects.
• Provide technical interface with customer -- the U.S. Government/other.
• Using manufacturing engineering practices, responsible for writing routings/manufacturing instructions.
• Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.
• Design and procure tools/equipment.
• Evaluate and approve drawings, routings/MI’s, specs and other documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production setting.
• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must have knowledge of fabrication and assembly practices, tools and fixturing.
• Ability to work with vendors, customers, and employees.
• Must excel at working in a team environment.
• Must be familiar with product construction and application.
• Must have complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.
• This position requires that the person be a highly organized individual, who is self-motivated, and can work independently.
• Must have very strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills, including group presentations.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
• Will be computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from a credited college, university or technical school; and/or five (5) years related experience and/or training in engineering or manufacturing of which three (3) years are in supervisory/managerial capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
