Manage engineering teams to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and service for processes, equipment, facilities, materials, products and/or people with a focus on design, development, and reliability
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct the work, plan and approve resources, and approve engineering project plans and schedules
- Consult or negotiate with internal or external customers to decide project specifications
- Present and explain proposals, reports, or findings to internal or external audiences
- Develop and convey broad, advanced conceptual ideas, and propose and persuade several diverse stakeholders, including the executive team
- Oversee the research, analysis, design, specifications, reliability, troubleshooting, and implementation of products, processes, components, assemblies, equipment, buildings, and utility infrastructure
- Drive the execution of continuous improvement plans that affect efficiency, quality, safety, or service
- Direct activities focused on new facility development or changes to existing facilities including equipment layout, ergonomics, job tasks, work methods, and production metrics
- Analyze technology trends, market demands, feasibility, costs, and customer demands for new and existing products
- Oversee acquisition of internal and external equipment for new or existing production lines
- Review, approve, and communicate standardized practices and procedures for engineering activities
- Manage department performance metrics, ensure budgetary guidelines are met
- Establish and communicate department goals
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cross functional projects for engineering area of expertise
- Assist executive management in developing long-range research and development plans and goals
- Mentor staff

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Requires one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering, business or related field of study and six (6) years of engineering experience, OR
- Associate's degree and twelve (12) years of engineering experience
- Five (5) years of supervisory and/or demonstrated technical leadership experience
- Demonstrated mastery in analyzing production equipment, processes and materials, and solving issues
- Successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project
- Advanced knowledge of facilities, EPS, plastic (thermoforming and/or injection molding), print, and/or paper equipment and processes
- Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
- Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, documents, and models
- Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance
- Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult situations
- Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Up to an average of 40% domestic and international travel
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
- Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
