For one of our clients in the Offshore sector we are currently looking for a Pipe Stress Engineer in Rotterdam area.

 

General job description

As a Piping Stress Engineer, you are expected to utilize your knowledge of engineering principles and procedures in Piping Stress calculations. You are responsible for identifying innovative methods to carry out assigned tasks and ensuring all Piping supports are functional and accounted for within a design. You must be familiar with Piping Stress/supports specifications, material specifications, fabrication issues, and piping requirements to ensure compliance with international codes, company specifications, and industry standards and regulations. The Piping Stress Engineer must prioritize activities and liaise with other Discipline Leads as needed to ensure safe, operable, functional and efficient deliverables.



Tasks

  • Reviews the Client technical documentation and all relevant legislation, standards and codes requirements
  • Participates to the engineering man hours estimation for the piping stress activities
  • Defines the Piping stress list of deliverables, time schedule and controls Piping stress activities in accordance with Contract requirements
  • Participates to the technical documentation preparation for Discipline engineering activities subcontracting
  • Issues project Piping stress specification and other deliverables during the basic design phase, and perform preliminary stress analysis of the Piping systems using Caesar II software
  • Coordinates all interface (in / out) information for the Piping stress activities for the assigned projects
  • Check Piping stress deliverables issued by other Piping stress Engineers or Subcontractors prepares / reviews responses to queries / comments arising from clients, classification societies , Subcontractors or other disciplines /departments on pipework stress aspect
  • Controls and approves the Subcontractor actual progress for Piping stress activities, including control of delivered documents and general tasks not directly linked to deliverables, such as stress calculations or document reviews
  • Ensures the monitoring and reporting to Discipline Lead Engineer of the Piping stress man hours
  • Takes the Package Engineer role for piping stress items and/or services (such as spring supports, expansion joints, vibrations studies, etc.)
  • Coordinates Piping stress review activities and participates to inter-discipline review meetings (including internal 3D model reviews)
  • Takes any corrective action within the project necessary to achieve the project goals or reports to Discipline Lead Engineer / Section Leader for more extensive problems
  • Coordinates the evaluation of the design changes to the original scope of work and verifies the implementation of those approved
  • Suggests suitable actions to prevent, adsorb or minimize any deviations in terms of time and costs
  • Provide technical support in construction, start-up phases or operations
  • Collect Project Lessons Learned for continuous improvement implementation
  • Keep abreast of relevant developments / tools for simplified piping stress activities and Provide inputs to piping Eng. Section Leader to harmonize design and methodologies

 

Requirements
Our preferred candidate for the role of a Piping Stress Engineer has at least 5-7 years’ experience in piping stress engineering in the (offshore) Oil & Gas industry. You have a relevant degree and bring strong decision making skills within a global matrix organization. You are best described as: action oriented, resilient and accountable. You are willing to travel, when necessary.
