Job Abbreviation Title Principle Designer

Job Description: Principle designer to assist and support various disciplines. Responsible for design and drafting activities, and material take-off in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable work practices. Additional responsibilities include:
- Design area lead
- 3D layout of complex scope
- Conduct review of model using 3D review platform and create 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity
- Apply project drawing standards to design drawings and 3D layout
- Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of advanced complexity
- Prepare layouts and/or schematics for conceptual and detailed designs of advanced complexity
- Check work done by other Designers
- Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
- Develop estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, and key quantities tracking reports
- Adherence to Quality Assurance programs
- Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design
- Review supplier drawings for information relative to design of government and commercial nuclear facilities.
- Review fabricator drawings
- Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations
- Assist in the development of designers especially in the area of government projects undertaking and nuclear industry requirements and practices
- Support project schedule development
- Provide assistance, as requested, in the areas of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, and procurement activities
- Assist in the development of department standards and procedures
- Prepare manpower forecasts/staffing plans
- Plan, organize, and schedule work tasks for the team
- Identify, analyze, and resolve problems
- Provide construction and commissioning support with occasional site visits.
- Support proposal development and required estimating
- Minimum 15 years work related experience in:



Job Requirements:

(1) Facility layout, piping, electrical, structures, equipment and system design
(2) Engineering work processes
- Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Practical field experience
- Self-starter, highly motivated, and able to effectively handle technical challenges.
- Computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
- 2D and 3D Cad system designs (Smart Plant 3D)
- US Citizen
- Ability to obtain US Government security clearances
Degree Required Yes or Equivalent
