Our client, a leading manufacturer of disposable food packaging products, is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join their team in Mason, MI.
You will lead the Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) sourcing programs and elevate procurement performance across multiple sites. This is a high-visibility role where you’ll own the MRO ecosystem end-to-end—from supplier strategy and contract negotiations to program execution and plant-level adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for MRO and assigned commodities across multiple sites
- Lead supplier negotiations to secure supply, quality, delivery, and competitive pricing
- Drive cost savings, reduce price variance, and improve total cost of ownership
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships while improving performance and mitigating risk
- Implement standardized MRO programs, buying channels, and compliance mechanisms
- Partner with plant operations, purchasing, and finance to ensure alignment and execution
- Lead key initiatives from planning through completion, removing obstacles and ensuring results
- Provide market intelligence, forecasting, and budgeting insights for key categories
- Develop and track KPIs to measure supplier performance and procurement effectiveness
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, supply chain, or related technical field of study; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Industry procurement experience with a diversified background working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, operations, logistics and manufacturing groups preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and strong management skills
- Knowledge of current supply chain activities, initiatives and systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of technology, trends and best practices in the supply chain function
- Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret mathematical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, etc.
- Experience using central purchasing systems and Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain technical issues
- Effective problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills are essential to manage critical processes
- Experience managing and executing multiple tasks, projects and priorities
- Ability to work in a team environment
