Our partner, an industry leading steel and rail manufacturing company, is seeking a Production Supervisor to join their team! This is a direct hire role with a company and the opportunity to join a team that manufactures excellence, drives success and builds careers!
SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor will oversee Rail Mill operations and develop, direct and manage a team of employees in the safe, efficient and cost-effective manufacture of high-quality rail products.
DUTIES:
• Maintain KRONOS Pay System by reviewing, editing, and approving employee timecards daily
• Conduct shift safety meetings, train employees on safe work practices, and conduct daily safe job observations
• Use LEAN tools from the Business System engage employees to continuously improve mill operations
• Supervising the shipping of finished product
• Performance evaluations of new hires
• Developing, coaching and training of Employees
• Monitoring daily production and delay management
• Building of operations & maintenance Teamwork
• Maintain and improve department 6S – daily management
• Maintain a good working knowledge of the collective bargaining agreements and applicable company policies
• Write and issue Improvement Action Reports (IARs) as needed per company policy.
• Process and document grievances as the first step in the grievance resolution
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent preferred
• Steel manufacturing experience an asset
• Front-line supervisory or team leader experience managing cross-functional teams
• Knowledge and experience with roller straightening of rails or special sections, sawing and gag press operations, process troubleshooting, and material flow logistics
• High mechanical aptitude
• Proven ability to professionally communicate, in written and verbal forms
• Proven ability to organize and motivate production teams for safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity
• Three years of rail or special section finishing experience, preferred
• Experience with database development, statistical process control, process control and automation technologies, and lean manufacturing principles, preferred
• Experience with Oracle quality and production modules and Oracle 11i requisitioning, preferred
