Project Design Engineer (Electrical)
Overview

- Hybrid: With 2 days per week in London office
- Years of relevant experience: 10+

- Education: Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar
We are looking for a Project Design Engineer to support our client’s current growth. This will be a key role within the Project team, providing engineering solutions for a range of behind the meter energy systems. Your role will work closely with sales and project management overseeing engineering solutions from concept development to delivery.
To succeed in this role, you need to be familiar with the electrical systems and technology used in renewables at low voltage. You should be a self-starter, methodical problem-solver and a confident communicator, able to convey technical concepts with simplicity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own electrical design from sales to delivery.
- Produce all electrical design documentation, including basis of design, SLD’s wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawing etc.
- Ensure designs comply with local requirements and legislation.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with project managers and 3rd party installers to provide assistance and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide engineering support during installation and commissioning of our systems.
- Produce installation, maintenance and operation manuals.
- Support diagnostics of errors during installation.
Requirements on work experience
- Electrical schemes for low voltage installations (DC and AC)
- Experience of G99/G100
- Experience of DC/AC inverters with a range of 50 – 500kW
- Knowledge and experience of earthing schemes related to inverters
- Experience of preparing SLD’s / wiring diagrams for power systems between 100kW – 2000kW
- Ability to prepare general arrangement drawings
- Ability to prepare installation and O&M manuals for small power systems
- Experience of BESS, Solar and Wind installations
- Experience of electrical and supervisory circuitry.
- Familiarity with electrical regulations and best practices.
Requirements on skills & aptitude
- An analytical mind, numerical with strong problem-solving ability.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to travel and work independently, collaborating with remote colleagues.
- High level of IT and networking ability
- Good MS Office skills, and ability to learn new software tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Attention to detail.
- A confident, positive and tenacious attitude.

- Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Electrical installations BS 7671:2018 (18th edition)
- Prior working experience in a fast-paced start-up environment
