Project Manager
Department Field Management

Experience
oBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering desired.
oMinimum 5 years of construction experience as a, or Project Manager or equivalent.
oKnowledge of principals, methods and standards of the designated trade’s area.
oExperience in the use and methods of tools and equipment commonly employed with the trade.
oAbility to read and understand plans and specification.
oPerforms work in accordance with standards and specifications.

Safety
oSupport and comply with company Health, Safety, and Environmental Program, Drug/Alcohol Free Workplace, and Harassment Free Work Environment Program.
oUnderstand and enforce safe work practices and personal protective equipment required for employees.
oSet yourself as an example for workplace safety.
oPerform regular project safety inspections to insure a safe work environment.
oEnsure that all accidents and incidents are reported to Safety Manager and Division Manager, regardless of how minor, as soon as possible and assist in investigation.
oEnsure that Superintendents have accessible, clean & organized work sites.
oEnsure all employees receive weekly safety training, properly document and turned in to Safety Manager.
oEnsure all employees are authorized and/or certified as a competent person to perform their job.

Budget Management
oManage profitability of projects (includes loss mitigation).
oMaintain updated and accurate job cost reports; forecasts costs to completion.
oThorough knowledge of project contracts, plans, specifications, and budgets.
oMaintain full knowledge of scope of work.
oCommunicates bi-weekly set-up, budget, and job cost reports to Superintendents and Foremen.
oHold Superintendents and Foremen accountable for project set-up and budget.
oClosely monitors daily production and labor/equipment costs.
oRecognizes scope changes, gets approval and documentation.
oEstimates change orders, assists/communicates with Estimating Dept.

Project Planning and Coordination
oWork with engineers, owners, or sub-contractors to accomplish tasks
oPlan project work with Division Manager.
oSchedule project work with Division Manager.
oAttend weekly superintendents meetings.
oMaintain accurate and up to date “as built” drawings.
oManage quality of work on project.
oManage project field problems.

Schedule Management
oPlans projects well (In house pre-cons, pre-mobilization meetings, etc.)
oPlan activities in advance and uses 2-week L.A schedules.
oEnsure projects completed on or ahead of schedule.
oManage and drive schedule and monthly billings.
oCreates uses and updates biweekly schedules in Primavera.
oEffective management of Superintendent to ensure that there is adequate manpower to do the job.
oEffective management of subcontractors and materials.

Estimating
oEstimates Change Orders
oAssists/communicates well with Estimating Department.

Labor Management
oSupervise Superintendent’s to accomplish daily tasks.
oEvaluate performance of Superintendents.
oAssume responsibility and maintain productivity of Superintendents.
oRecommend salary increases, promotions, etc. to Division Manager.
oResolve personal problems among work crew team.
oInterview prospective Superintendents and take disciplinary action for problem employees.
oDocument all violations and notify Division Manager and Human Resource or Safety Manager; recommend and implement corrective actions as required.
oTimely evaluation of new Superintendents at 90-day increments on proper forms.
oPerform thorough evaluation of current and new Superintendents as directed on 6-month or annual basis.
oTrain Superintendents for the next step in their career.
oEvaluate potential employees for promotion/demotion.
oCreate traiing opportunities for employees.
oShare experience and knowledge with project team.
oShare with crew overall project plan as well as short-term goals.
oApprove and submit project daily reports.
oApprove signed material receipts with job number, cost code, and purchase order number written on receipt.
