Reporting to the Manager Asset, Development and Delivery, the Project Planner / Scheduler will be responsible for analysing, scheduling, planning, reporting, and project controls support for development and delivery (study to execution) various capex and opex infrastructure investments.

This role will also be responsible for providing program and project management support, encompassing high level analysis, reporting and general governance tasks. 

The Project Planner / Scheduler will work closely together and provide assistance to Project Engineers, Project Managers, Cost Controller and Contracts Advisor.

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Meet monthly with Project Managers to develop and update project schedule.
  • Support the effective and efficient delivery of capital investment projects by developing, maintaining, analysing, and reporting on project programmes.
  • Develop programmes and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) based on project scope, design, construction methodologies and delivery strategies.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, construction activities into a single master schedule.
  • Maintain accurate project schedules throughout all stages of the project, to ensure the timely completion of tasks and milestones.
  • Produce high level schedules (showing key activities only) for use with lay audience within the business and elsewhere. 
Programme Management
  • Maintain project programmes using Primavera P6 (Primavera): ensuring compliance with the company procedures, applying critical path analysis and earned value techniques to manage project timelines and costs.
  • Align schedules with gateway and contract milestones.
  • Conduct “what-if” scenario modelling to evaluate impacts of delays, variations, or acceleration strategies.
  • Produce monthly schedule performance reports, milestone tracking.

Collaboration
  • Work closely with the project team to develop and maintain programmes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across all departments.
  • Participate in project meetings as necessary to provide programme updates and assist in decision-making processes.

Risk Management & Change Control
  • Continuously monitor project progress against the planned schedule and identify any deviations or potential delays.
  • Report on actual versus forecasted progress and analyse cause and effect from changes to the programme.
  • Analyse programme risks, opportunities, and contingencies to support the management of project time and cost and propose corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that earned value, critical path, and cashflow forecasts are regularly updated and reported.
  • Maintain change logs for all schedule modifications, with documented justifications and impacts.

Cost Integration
  • Link costs to activities for accurate forecasting of cashflow demands.

Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the enhancement of scheduling standards, tools, and processes, aligning with industry best practice.

Position Skills, Experience, Knowledge
  • Minimum 5+ years’ of experience in project planning and scheduling in the construction or engineering sectors, with preference for marine or civil construction projects.
Demonstrated expertise in Primavera P6, MS Project, OnePager and Planview.
