The role requires a pragmatic, hands‑on legal professional who can balance risk management with commercial objectives and operate confidently in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
This is based in Doha, Qatar.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Drafting and contributing to the review, development and further enhancement of the LegalScope and all matters associated with it.
- Provide senior legal advice to the Legal & Compliance Director, Executive Management and other business leaders and stakeholders on various legal matters.
- Lead and handle complex legal matters related to port and terminal acquisitions, joint ventures, concessions, and strategic investments.
- Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and interpretation of a wide range of commercial,operational, and strategic contracts.
- Support and effective compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies andframeworks.
- Lead corporate governance matters, including board and committee documentation,governance policies, regulatory developments, and best-practice standards.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the Group’s operations andprojects.
- Provide senior-level legal guidance on general legal matters, disputes, claims, investigations,and regulatory inquiries, in coordination with external counsel as required.
- Advise and support business units and cross-functional teams on legal implications ofoperational and strategic initiatives.
- Interact and coordinate with external legal advisors across jurisdictions, ensuring consistency,quality, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of Group-widelegal frameworks, templates, and internal guidance.
- Support special projects, international expansion initiatives, and other strategic matters asrequired.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in law from a reputable university (master’s degree or professional qualification is an advantage).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar general role at senior level.
- Background in ports, maritime or shipping industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience working internationally and in the Middle East is a must.
